The Ultimate Pet Health Guide

As a holistic veterinarian and scientist, Dr. Gary Richter helps dog and cat owners to navigate the thicket of treatment options and separate the fact from the fiction. He wants us to use what actually works, not just what Western science or alternative medicine say “should” work. This multifaceted approach to health is known as integrative medicine.

Needed a health and suggested feeding guide for my new dog, great price on this used book.

The book was good enough to add to my pet book collection. However, my review is about something other than the information in the book as it is about the printing. The paper is cheap and the ink is far too light. Perhaps the printer was low on ink. I have good eyesight but this is way too strenuous to read for more than a few minutes. What a disappointment!

Great vet pet owner book. Easy to read and not drastic theories so one has to go through a self learning course on vet practice, just helps you know how help keep your dog healthier and what to do and know if they become very sick with chronic or serious ailments. This is one I’d recommend for a go to f you have a pet that’s got any health issues. I only read chapters that affect my own dog, but just started reading it and love it. My other books are for diet issues and vaccine approaches. Also have big one Merick medical but have yet to glance at it. This one’s simple and basic. And no addressing raw food or vaccine theory, very basic. That I love, am so tired of everything being about food and vacs. Our pets di get ill and health issues especially as they age and this is for sure helpful in that.

I have had more than one occasion to recommend this book to people in stores, family, even my vet and local animal rescues! My new kitten loves the first recipe with chicken, chicken liver and green beans. I overheard a lady in a store that was upset because her vet had recommended a VERY expensive food for her cat’s pancreatitis and I told her about the recipe for just that condition in this book. She was relieved because I had just saved her a LOT of money! Shortly after getting this book my daughter’s dog got sick and we started using one of the recipes in this book. She’s getting better! I highly recommend this book. This year alone I lost two of my most beloved dogs and I’d bet my social security it was largely due to kibble, even though I bought what research had told me was pretty good stuff for them. I am devastated! I saw the infomercial on this book and ordered it right away. You have to buy a lot of supplements in the beginning, but once you get past that (they last forever), the food you put in each recipe actually ends up costing far less than the pet food in the stores. And pet food, whether canned or dry, cat or dog, is COSTING MORE AND MORE! I thought I couldn’t afford to feed my pets like this. I was wrong. And I sleep better knowing I’m giving my fur babies food that really is healthy and safe!

information over load – too detailed and too much information. Needs to be easier to understand, more direct and more to the point. just tell us what our pets can and cannot eat and why and easy to make recipes with food available and easy to find.
